Criminal Background Checks

State law requires all educator licensure candidates obtain a criminal background check in the school district(s) in which the educator licensure candidate is placed.  The cost for the background check, per law, is the educator licensure candidate's responsibility.  The background check will consist of a State of Illinois conviction check and an FBI background check.  Please note, the FBI background check includes arrests and convictions.  Certain convictions will bar prospective candidates from pursuing teaching.
