Timely Creation of ELIS Accounts by Licensure Candidates

State Law requires candidates in licensure programs be placed into pre-completion status in their Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) accounts shortly after the candidate’s enrollment in a licensure program. For a candidate to be placed into pre-completion status in accordance with the timeframe established by ISBE, the candidate must create their ELIS account and communicate their Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN) to the Council on Teacher Education in a timely manner after receiving the written documentation on how to create the ELIS account. Candidates who provide the IEIN will be able to register in licensure courses.
